The Continued Violations of the Thomas Administration and Deputy Police Commissioner Joseph Spiezio

Our organization has been monitoring the pattern and practices of the Mount Vernon, New York Police Department under the Mayor Richard Thomas Administration.

The appointment of alleged Deputy Police Commissioner Joseph Spiezio has raised questions of his legitimacy in his capacity as Deputy Police Commissioner.

First, in our opinion and according to the Mount Vernon City Charter Chapt. 24 Article IV, Mr. Spiezio is still in violation and is an illegitimate Deputy Police Commissioner.

Second, Mr. Spiezio has used his position to retaliate and threaten Mount Vernon elected officials and employees with no accountability or punishment from the Thomas Administration.

Third, in his alleged Honorary Deputy Police Commissioner position, which is a non-payroll position, Mr. Spiezio now seeks to swindle the Mount Vernon Taxpayers by requestion for Health Benefits from the City Comptroller.

The privilege to have health benefits as a law enforcement officer comes with the sacrifice of the job, something that Mr. Spiezio cannot comprehend. The arrogance of Mr. Spiezio is a complete insult to all Mount Vernon Police Officers that put their life on the line every day and pay union dues to secure benefits for their families. These officers obtained these health benefits through proven hard work not being a top donator to Mayor Richard Thomas’s campaign fund.

As a national organization of Law Enforcement Professionals, we have requested a formal investigation of the Thomas Administration and the Mount Vernon Police Department to N.Y.S Attorney Generals Office and the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

How much longer will the Thomas Administration allow a campaign donator run unchecked throughout City Hall? This later request of Mr. Spiezio to ask for Health Benefits for a non-paying honorary job is a slap in the face to the residents of Mt. Vernon and the hardworking Mt. Vernon Police Officers.

Petition to Boycott the NFL and Sponsors for Refusing to sign Colin Kaepernick

We are asking all Black Law Enforcement Organizations, civil rights organizations, grass root organizations to do the same.  PLEASE SIGN HERE

“What does it say about the NFL, and about us, when at least a half-dozen men who have been accused of physical or sexual assault have been welcomed into the NFL over the past week, while Colin Kaepernick still has not?

While some NFL teams were busy drafting names from the police blotter last weekend, Kaepernick was standing outside a New York City parole office, handing out two boxes of his own custom-made suits to men who needed them for upcoming job interviews. He has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to charity. In March, it was reported by several news media outlets, including USA TODAY Sports, that Kaepernick will not protest the national anthem this coming season. And yet he’s still a free agent, so far unwanted by all 32 NFL teams.

The NFL is also broadcasting a message to Black people throughout the world that Black issues do not matter. It is uncommon that our children see athletes standing up for issues in their communities, especially for the many black men that have been unjustly killed by Law Enforcement.

As conscious Black People, we must send the same message to the NFL and their Sponsors that our dollars matter by boycotting the NFL and their products for basically punishing Kaepernick for his position on social justice issues.
